We got handed a mysterious card with an intense stoat on it telling us to press the soundtrack to award-winning card-based odyssey Inscryption. Who says ‘no’ to a stoat?
30 specially mastered tracks will be pressed to heavyweight black and purple galaxy-effect LPs. These will be housed in a deluxe gatefold sleeve with artwork by illustrator Areku Nishiki.
Jonah Senzel has created effective, affecting music and sound design for all of game designer Daniel Mullins’ titles so far (including Pony Island and The Hex.) For Inscryption, Senzel’s twangs, clanks, humming, and other unsettling sonic elements immerse players in the inky black world of the cabin, the gamemaster, and beyond… The soundtrack album combines music and sounds to paint a deeply eerie auralscape that’s part post-rock, part twisted Americana, and part musique concrète.
Inscryption won Game of the Year at the GDC Awards and the D.I.C.E Awards; it received the Seumas McNally Grand Prize at the Independent Games Festival Awards, as well as winning awards for Excellence in Audio, Narrative and Design; it picked up a BAFTA for best Game Design; and was nominated twice at The Game Awards.
